This one hundred yard field in Woolrich used to be special. This was the home of the Woolrich outdoor pool, and is where I learned to swim as a kid.
It seems so eerie to see the place like this. I can almost imagine the chain link fence surrounding it and the bath house standing on the right side. Anyone remember the giant game of checkers?
The point is, this is no longer a place where children learn to swim safely. This is a field. This is the future of the community pool at Mill Hall if we let it become this way, a field where the ghosts of memories of 40 years of kids having fun while playing in a safe environment.
